Hot Hamburger Danny!

Okay - the orginal name of this recipe is Hot Hamburger Murphey...but since I don't know the history behind the name OR the recipe - I am just going to rename it after my husband - who LOVES it!

It is a little bit of a wild ride for the traditional hamburger eater...and yet - done right, it is delicious and a meal to look forward to - over and over again!

What you will need:

That is about a pound of hamburger (chuck - 85/15), 1 TBSP (or to taste) garlic powder, sesaoning salt (to taste), crinkle cut french fries and a packet of gravy mix. I am gravy making insecure - I always have this one hand in case I mess up!!

Let the hamburger come to room temperature. Add the garlic powder, seasoning salt, and black pepper to the meat and mix it up well.

Divide the meat into fourths and make a rustic hamburger patty...place in a sizzling hot pan (I use a grill pan - you could use a skillet of any kind.)  I cook mine about 5 mintues on each side...you cook yours how ever you like it -- we like our meat well done around here.

So - while I waiting on the meat to get done...I spotted this and COULD NOT resist!

,,,the last remanent of my birthday cake...YUM, YUM, YUM!!  okay...back to the main character!

Once the patty is done, place it on a towel lined plate and let it rest a bit.  Now...for the gravy!

I confess -- I am not a very good gravy maker -- mostly because I have had little practice -- but I am getting better and it is another reason I love this recipe - it is helping me build my kitchen skill muscle.

You will have plenty of grease in the pan when  you are done with the meat. Add flour in a little at a time (about 1 TBSP at a time - sprinkled over the grease). Whisk it and keep going until the flour is thick and bubbling and looks like this....

Now - add in about 2 cups of chicken or beef broth...oh - did I forget to list that in the cast of characters....sorry! Add it in for me okay?

Anywhoo....add the broth and whisk away - gathering all the little bits and flour and stir until it is smooth - I sometimes have to add more broth - I like the gravy thinner rather than thick ....use your judgement and your taste level!

Yum!! I add black pepper too...just cause!

Now -- create your fries - deep fry, bake, whatever...just get it done.

You are ready to plate it all up --- here is the beauty. Take a hamburger bun and toast it. Place it on the plate, top with a patty and a slice of cheese (if you like cheese!) and then place a serving of the fries on the place and ladle on the gravy -- over it all. Yep -- it is gooey and lucious and decadant -- and man oh man -- a meal to make a man happy for sure!

Enjoy!

It was yum. We did have peaches and blueberry fruit salad to counter balance all the friedness and gravy-ness of this dish - we do not eat like this everyday -- but when we do -- we do it right!

Welcome

This is my second attempt at a food and recipe blog.  Thanks for stopping by and giving it a try.

I love to cook. I was introduced to cooking when I was 18 and I have not stopped since. My family have patiently stood by as I have created recipes - some good, some not so good and they are my number one fan and critic. I can't wait to share some of our family favorites here with you as we discover Happy Meals together!

Come back again soon!
